BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil (AP) — Still coping with the loss of its biggest star, Brazil is trying to find ways to remain upbeat about its prospects at the World Cup.

The medical helicopter that took Neymar home with a back injury also carried away much of the country's hopes for a sixth world title, but the tournament isn't over yet and Brazil is just days away from a difficult semifinal against Germany.

"We have to try to be mature in a moment like this," Brazil defender David Luiz said. "We are sad because we are missing an important player and someone who was trying to fulfill his dream of winning this title."

One of the tournament's main attractions, Neymar had been decisive for Brazil until the devastating injury late in the team's 2-1 win over Colombia in the quarterfinals on Friday. He was crucial on the field and an essential part of the group trying to win the title at home. He was seen as the joyful youngster who was admired and respected by everyone.

Brazil doctor Jose Luiz Runco said the players were "shocked and saddened" when they heard Neymar would miss the rest of the World Cup.

"It's sad because we know how hard he worked to be here with us," striker Fred said. "We know how important he was for us. But we have to look at our group and realize that it still has a lot of quality."

Everyone knows it won't be easy replacing Neymar. Brazil thrived when he played well and struggled when he didn't live up to expectations.

"It's difficult to lose a player who is so crucial to our team," veteran right back Maicon said.

It will be up to coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to find a replacement for the 22-year-old striker and to keep the team in contention for a sixth world title.

The team's other forwards have been struggling since the competition began, and nobody else in the squad has the characteristics of the Barcelona star.

Instead of using reserve strikers Bernard or Jo, it's likely that Scolari will pick one of his midfielders to play in the match against Germany on Tuesday in Belo Horizonte. Willian, Hernanes and Ramires are the most probable options.

Making matters worse for Scolari is the fact that captain and central defender Thiago Silva will also be missing because of a yellow card suspension.

"We don't know who is going to come in, but we know that we have a lot of quality players in our squad," Silva said. "We are sad for Neymar and because I'm not going to play, but we have to be prepared despite these absences."

One way for Brazil to try to stay positive may be to look to its past.

It's not the first time Brazil's national team lost its best player to injury during the World Cup. It happened to Pele and Brazil still won the title.

"I was also injured during the 1962 World Cup in Chile, and I was out for the rest of the tournament," Pele said. "But God helped Brazil continue on to win the championship."

When Pele hurt a muscle in the second match of the tournament in Chile, most in Brazil said the chances of a world title had diminished significantly. But the team won its next four matches to clinch its second consecutive trophy.

"I hope the same will happen with our Selecao in this World Cup," Pele said.

Runco added that Neymar's absence can work in Brazil's favor.

"I think this will help make this group become stronger, it will motivate them to reach the final and win the title," the doctor said. "They will want to honor this teammate who always helped the team."

DETROIT (AP) — Subaru is recalling more than 660,000 cars and SUVs because the brake lines can rust and leak fluid, and that can mean it will take longer to stop the vehicles.

For about half the vehicles, it's the second recall for the same problem.

Affected are 2005 through 2009 Legacy and Outback, the 2008 through 2014 Impreza and the 2009 through 2013 Forester.

It covers vehicles sold or registered in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C., where salt is used to clear roads in the winter.

The company says in documents posted Thursday by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that salty water can splash onto the brake lines through a gap in the fuel tank protector, causing rust. If they leak fluid, it could take longer to stop the car and increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect the lines and replace them if leaks are found. They'll also apply anti-corrosion wax.

No crashes or injuries have been reported due to the problem, and Subaru is taking the action as a precaution, spokesman Michael McHale said in an email.

About 274,000 Legacy and Outback vehicles were recalled for the same problem in March of last year. The safety agency says additional areas have to be rust-proofed in those cars.

DANA POINT, Calif. (AP) — Louis Brown Jr., the father of O.J. Simpson's ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, has died at his Southern California home, a family attorney said Saturday. He was 90.

Brown died Thursday in the seaside community of Dana Point, attorney Natasha Roit said in an email. A statement issued on behalf of the family did not include a cause of death.

Brown was the father of Nicole Brown Simpson, who was slashed to death in 1994 with friend Ronald Goldman. Her former husband, a football great, was acquitted of murder in the high-profile murder trial, which was televised live.

A civil jury found O.J. Simpson liable in 1997 for the deaths of his ex-wife and Goldman, providing a moral victory for grieving relatives who thought he got away with murder.

Louis Brown, who sat stone still as the verdict was announced, stood and smiled afterward. "I want to get outside and scream," he told the AP at the time. The jury awarded $ 33.5 million in damages.

Brown and his daughter Denise founded a charitable foundation in his slain daughter's name to raise awareness of domestic violence and increase funding for assistance.

Brown served in World War II as a pilot and married in Switzerland after the war, the statement said.

His wife, Judi, and children were with him when he died. "It was his wish to remain in his home with those he loved," Roit said.

HEYBURN, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho woman gave birth while driving to a doctor appointment and delivered her daughter by herself.

Shawna Uriguen delivered the 6-pound, 7-ounce baby Tuesday while she driving from work to a doctor's appointment, the Times-News reported Thursday (http://bit.ly/1ocS1tx). She was on the phone with her fiance, Clay Crown, and said she was trying to find a place to pull over when the baby was born. She said she quickly got the baby out of her pant leg and checked to make sure she was OK.

Uriguen, 29, said she had been having contractions but didn't think she was in labor. The baby, named Kimber Marie Crown, was due on Saturday.

Uriguen said medics arrived in minutes, and she was taken to the hospital to get checked out. Uriguen said she and the baby are fine.
